Rebar 101 Training for Ironworkers


Course Description:

Rebar 101 Training for Ironworkers is a 40 hour course (1 week) designed to provide existing Local 720 members and outside candidates with construction experience the knowledge and skills required for his or her first day on the job site as a Reinforcing Ironworker.  Major topics covered in this course include basic safety, measuring, and hand tools. 

Course Objective:

The objective of this course is to enable the student to go to work as an apprentice Ironworker (Reinforcing)

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Follow basic safety guidelines
  • Demonstrate the ability to measure
  • Demonstrate the ability to use basic hand tools
  • Describe the roles and responsibilities of the reinforcing Ironworker

Target Audience:

This course is designed for existing members and outside candidates with construction experience who are interested in gaining employment with local 720 as Reinforcing Ironworkers.  Local 720 member applicants must be members in good standing, all applicants must be 18 years of age or older with valid class 5 drivers license and their own transportation.

Participants who successfully complete the program will be eligible to seek employment through our dispatch to a signatory contractor.  Participants who are dispatched will be indentured as a Reinforcing Ironworker PRIOR to starting work.

COST:

Participants who successfully complete the program and are dispatched through Ironworker local 720 will be indentured as a Reinforcing Ironworker apprentice.  The applicant will be required to pay the apprenticeship application fee at the time of application

Apprenticeship Application fee = $35 (must be paid by credit card only)


Participants who successfully complete the program and are dispatched through Ironworkers local 720 will need to purchase the tools and belt needed to work in the field.  The tools and belt can be purchased at the training center upon completion of the training

Reinforcing tools/belt = $225 (approx.)

Class runs Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Important Course Information

  • A $150 Fee will be charged to NO SHOWS or those who fail to attend the entire course.
  • Participants are asked to arrive 10 min before the start of class.
  • Late arrivals will not be permitted.
